The project concerns the presentation of a visual group exhibition of contemporary art with the participation of female artists from different countries, which explores femininity and its various manifestations.
The focus is on femininity and how it is being experienced and expressed artistically through symbols and roles, in a modern and rapidly changing world with ancient origins.
Women from different countries and cultures approach the subject though painting, photography, video installations, researching the stereotypical effects of gender concerning femininity. They attempt to send a strong message of freedom in relation to identity, sexuality, politics and history, they explore the symbolization of women as they emerge from their various roles, with a critical sense of humor and self-deprecation.
curatorial:
At the heart of the exhibition "what about Eve?", a group of women artists depicts the womanhood and its multiple roles and symbolisms, opening up new ways of understanding the main female archetype in a metamodern world with ancient origins.
The conceptual approach is about femininity and the ways it is experienced, through multiple dimensions and contemporary issues, expressed as an artistic process and dialogue.
Women from different countries and cultures explore contradictory and challenging ideas, among which are free will, empathy, disempowerment, and connection to today's rapidly changing social scene.
The artists of the exhibition "what about Eve?" approach the theme through paintings, photography, installations, video, digging into stereotypical performances of gender and sending a strong message of freedom in relation to identity, sexuality, politics and history. They revisit the symbolization of women with a critical attitude, humour and self-sarcasm.
The group's ambition is to present a broad perspective on modern society and art, posing questions, challenging the viewer to engage in readings and reflections on female dynamics.
Can we still find ways in which art can crack the stereotypes and power mechanisms that define us?
Can we reimagine gender roles?
By accepting the creative power of femininity, we can have the opportunity for a new harmony.
