ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I look at the world through the prism of color. In my memory, people and events exist as color combinations. I am a synesthete, that is to say someone whose perception of sounds, images and smells remains connected. I associate color with faces, smells, moments of life.

I find it interesting to observe how memory preserves visual impressions and colors them: plants, people, events - everything takes on its own hue.

My visual language is inspired by the ideas of the European and Russian avant-garde - Kandinsky, Matisse, Larionov, Goncharova, Gauguin - as well as Swiss modernists such as Felix Vallotton, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Alberto Giacometti.

A person is part of a larger whole. I explore the parallels between man and nature, drawing on the ideas of the philosopher Julien Offray de La Mettrie and his image of the "man-plant". I am fascinated by the simplicity and complexity of plant life, its strength and beauty.

I'm constantly looking for new ways to accurately express what I have in mind. I like acrylic for its fluidity, texture and ability to combine with other materials: pastels, pencils, markers. I work on canvas, paper and silk.

Science explains how the eyes and brain process light waves, turning them into color and shape. The artist shows not only what we see, but also how we perceive and understand reality.
