BIO

Natalia Valter is a conceptual sculptor, originally from a small mining town in Siberia.

She spent her childhood with her blind grandmother, who taught her to sense the world through her hands.
In 2018, after losing sight in one eye, Natalia returned to this early experience — choosing sculpture as her way of communicating with the world.

Her artistic statement: “I feel the world through my hands.”

Her work explores tactility as a primal language of perception and the trace of touch as a form of presence.
Clay is her primary material — it responds to every gesture and preserves its imprint.

Her style is inspired by the minimalism of Cycladic art and resonates with the works of Arp, Moore, Hepworth, and Brancusi.
She lives and works in Varna and is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists.
ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I feel life through my hands.
In my artistic practice, I explore tactility — as the foundation of perception, as a language that precedes words, as a medium of knowing.

Sculpture, for me, is not just a form in space, but a trace of touch — a physical continuation of myself. I do not create images or construct narratives. I leave imprints.
I am my hands.

My style is inspired by the minimalism of ancient Cycladic art and exists in dialogue with the works of Jean Arp, Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, and Constantin Brancusi.
Clay is the material most suited for conveying tactility — it responds to every touch and preserves the trace of the hand.

Through my art, I express the belief that true knowledge does not come through words, but through the body — through touch, through presence.
