Olga Krakovyak is a German artist of Ukrainian origin, born in Kyiv, Ukraine, in 1981, and based in Dortmund, Germany, since 1999. Working across drawing, painting, and paper-based collage, she investigates memory, identity, resilience, and the lasting human
consequences of war, displacement, and social transformation.
Olga studied at the Private Art Academy Wetter/Ruhr between 2018 and 2020. Since 2023, she has taught acrylic painting at the Adult Education Center (VHS) Dortmund and has been a member of the Association of Visual Artists of Westphalia (BBK Westfalen).
Her work has been presented in numerous solo and juried exhibitions across Germany, including exhibitions in Dortmund, Hamburg, Cologne, Münster, Offenbach am Main, and Glinde. She has participated in curated exhibitions including Form Art Glinde, Human Work (Menschwerk), Border Crossings, Cux Paper Art, Open Wall, and Art Fair Franken.
In 2023, Olga Krakovyak was shortlisted for the Künstlergilde Art Prize. Her exhibition projects were included in the Cultural Program of the Central Council of Jews in Germany in both 2023 and 2026, and in 2026 she was nominated for the Erna Suhrborg Prize.
Alongside Paper Instead of Stones, her major exhibition projects include From the Ashes Reborn and Ukraine. War. Close to the Heart., continuing her exploration of remembrance, loss, and the resilience of human experience.
